Cartoning project questions

What carton and product information is needed for automatic cartoning?

Direct answer: Provide the flat-carton drawing and converted samples, board grade and variation, crease and glue details, opening direction, product dimensions and orientation, leaflet or insert requirements, closure method, code position and accepted finished-carton checks. The product infeed and carton erection must be assessed together because a carton can erect correctly yet fail when the product presentation is inconsistent.

What affects reliable carton erection?

Board stiffness, creases, glue, storage condition, flatness, magazine loading and suction or mechanical pick-up can all affect opening. Supply cartons from production conversion and include known difficult batches rather than hand-made samples only.

How should the product be presented?

Define product orientation, spacing, grouping, flexibility and the response to a missing or damaged product. Where several items form one carton load, state how completeness is detected before insertion.

What coding and inspection should be planned?

Identify the required printed information, data source, code position, carton-open and closure checks, reject decision and reject confirmation. The inspection method must match the actual defect the quality system needs to prevent.
